for new year's eve, i made glühwein, german hot mulled wine: pour a bottle of red wine (i used merlot) into a deep pan and keep on low heat for one hour; do not boil. add lemon peels, cinnamon sticks, cloves, bay leaves, honey, brandy, to taste. serve hot, imagine you are at the christmas market in köln, stomping around in the cold and cheerful winter night. warmest wishes for 2010!
